When architecture, engineering, and construction professionals need a quick and easy way to render CAD designs into striking visual displays, they turn to Lumion. In order to optimize the transformation of models into richly textured renders and make real-time design alterations, it's best to rely on a BOXX Lumion workstation.
When architecture, engineering, and construction professionals need a quick and easy way to render CAD designs into striking visual displays, they turn to Lumion. In order to optimize the transformation of models into richly textured renders, make real-time design alterations, and optimize the application’s latest AI features, it's best to rely on a BOXX Lumion workstation.
When viewing a Lumion-rendered model, the visuals are so realistic, textured, and smooth that it makes interacting with Lumion akin to playing a high-end PC game. Indeed, like those games, Lumion works best with a GPU posting a PassMark score of 6000 or higher (e.g. NVIDIA GeForce or NVIDIA RTX™). These GPUs are also key to accelerating Lumion’s wide range of AI capabilities.
But graphics cards aren't the only hardware components you’ll need to optimize Lumion features. You also require a Lumion workstation configured to support single-threaded workflows and high viewport frame rates that enable such realistic visuals. As opposed to multi-threaded tasks that benefit from more CPU cores, Lumion workflows benefit from increased CPU frequency. BOXX recommended Lumion hardware includes the APEXX S3 featuring a performance tuned Intel® Core™ i7 or i9 processor and up to two professional GPUs. Because Lumion can be effectively used alongside a number of other CAD modeling applications, you can simultaneously edit Lumion visualizations as you make changes in BIM software—even after you’ve spent time adding textures and materials.
When running applications side by side, it's important to remain aware of the potential compute bottlenecks that may result. Both Lumion workflows and BIM workflows are single-threaded, and thus frequency bound, meaning the number of CPU cores doesn’t affect performance. The solution is a BOXX APEXX S3, a Lumion workstation designed to accelerate both creative workflows. Contact one of our Lumion performance specialists to custom-configure your ideal system.
